We’re in the home stretch, Blockheads! It’s Week 29, the penultimate week of Blockheads 5, Group 2, and our guest designer this week is a Moda Marketing team member, Alison Dale. Alison owned a quilt shop in Colorado for many years before moving to Texas and joining the Moda team. She currently heads up our sample department and Moda’s trunk show program for quilt shops.

Alison’s block, Maria’s Star, is named after her grandmother and niece. Maria’s Star is a striking paper-pieced block with a twist – it involves a partial seam, which is a technique we have not yet tackled in our Blockheads series this year! But don’t worry if you’ve never sewn a block with partial seams before – we have a video tutorial that will walk you through it step by step!
