Robin Pickens is making waves with her newest Moda Fabrics collection, Serena Shores. Drawing inspiration from the beauty of coastal landscapes, Robin brings her unique design style into a fresh, oceanic theme. Known for her floral motifs, Robin blends beachy textures and colors with her signature elements to create a versatile and vibrant collection. Whether you’re stitching quilts, cross-stitch projects, or even experimenting with punch needle designs, Serena Shores offers something for every maker.

Available in November 2024, this collection features bold prints like the striking agapanthus flower, reminiscent of Peter Pan globes, as well as a geometric life-preserver design, offering a modern coastal feel. In addition to fabric, Robin is releasing five new shades of her popular Thatched line, enhancing the collection's depth and versatility.

Featured Quilts from Serena Shores

Surf Wave Quilt

The Surf Wave quilt captures the spirit of the ocean with flowing, wave-like patterns. Available in two sizes—a small wall quilt (32") and a larger quilt (64")—Surf Wave is a great project for both beginners and experienced quilters. Using a Layer Cake and coordinating background fabric, the larger quilt brings the fluidity of the ocean to life, while the smaller version, made from a Charm Pack, offers a quick and satisfying project. The tonal white-on-cream background adds subtle texture, making the quilt pop with coastal charm.

Backslash Quilt

Backslash is another striking design in this collection. With a beautiful lagoon background from Robin’s earlier Painted Meadow collection, this quilt features sharp geometric patterns that echo the sleek lines of a modern seaside landscape. Available in white or lagoon backgrounds, this quilt gives you plenty of room to showcase Serena Shores' unique coastal prints.

Here are some mock ups in Serena Shores--aren't they dreamy?

Tokyo Terrace Quilt

Designed to showcase large motifs, the Tokyo Terrace quilt is the perfect canvas for Robin’s larger floral and shell prints. The quilt’s bold design allows you to highlight your favorite fabrics from the collection, making it ideal for those who love to make a statement with their quilts. Its oversized panels let the fabrics speak for themselves, creating a dynamic, eye-catching piece for any room.

Other Fun Serena Shores Projects

Robin didn’t stop with quilts—she’s also introduced a range of accessories that are as practical as they are beautiful. The Poolside Tote by Noodle Head Patterns is perfect for beach days or market runs. The tote’s accents, like the minty green trim, give it a fresh, coastal vibe while providing extra color and texture to the design.

Cross-Stitch and Punch Needle Fun

Expanding into cross-stitch, Robin has created five new patterns to accompany Serena Shores. The Shoreline Sampler combines seashells, sandpipers, and other beachy elements with a quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson. Ideal for summer stitching, these patterns can be used to create pillows, dough bowl fillers, or even framed artwork.

Robin also explores punch needle embroidery for the first time with this collection. Her punch needle designs, including coral and anchor motifs, add a textured layer to projects. By using Thatched fabric as a base, Robin creates a contrast between the woven texture and the punch needlework, giving the designs extra dimension.
