It's Splendid...
It's Splendid...
One hundred blocks - all of them the result of Pat and Jane's most splendid adventure. Part 2.
Pat Sloan and Jane Davidson - the driving force and creative minds behind The Splendid Sampler. Published in April 2017, The Splendid Sampler brought quilters from around the world together to stitch and share. It was so much fun, another hundred blocks were requested.
Each sampler has had a glorious mix of blocks, both pieced and appliquéd. Including these blocks from The Splendid Sampler 2 - published in October, 2018. I'm quite partial to the tree in the middle.
Out On a Limb. Page 18 of The Splendid Sampler 2.
I think you know I like 6" blocks. And half-triangle squares. And small four-patches.
Because I love options, I made two blocks using different fabrics in the bundle chosen for the project.
Of course that meant I might also need to make a tiny change to the block. Something small. Just because.
The cutting is the same, as is the piecing. There's just a bit more background in this block, and the four-patches have been turned.
Piecing the half-triangle squares? I'm a size-it-up and trim-it-down girl so I prefer cutting the squares for the HTSs a skosh larger - an 1/8" or 1/4" will do - and trimming them to size. It takes just a few minutes.
Pat is sharing several other blocks being shared today on The Splendid Sampler blog - and a little birdie told me that there might be a giveaway.
Pat will have all the details on how to enter to win these Moda goodies.
To see more blocks and works-in-progress, there is a Facebook group - The Splendid Sampler.
There's also plenty of sampler-ing splendidly happening on Instagram - #splendidsampler and #splendidsampler2.
Thank you to Pat and Jane for another Splendid Sampler adventure!
