Boro, Nuno & Indygo
As soon as we see beautiful fabrics, many of us are guilty of thinking about quilts first. Not Amy Barickman. As a creator, designer and sewist, Amy sees fabric and sees something else. She sees clothing.
Amy is Indygo Junction - designer, creator, entrepreneur, businesswoman, author and sewist. (She's also smart, funny and nice.)
As soon as the Boro Wovens and Debbie Maddy's Nuno collection was released last Fall, Amy was using the fabrics to make garments. Swing coats and shift dresses, tunic tops and pants, everything we love to wear!
We're thrilled to say that we've managed to borrow a rack-full of Amy's garments to show at QuiltCon! (Look for Moda in Booth 524.)
This is Indygo Essentials Button Back Shirt - IJ 1163E. It's got a front pleat, cuffed sleeves and back-button details. The fabric is Boro Woven #12560 35.
Clockwise from upper-left:
- Sophia Swing Coat - IJ 1133CR - made with Boro Woven #12560 20.
- Turnabout Tank - IJ 1164 - made with Boro Woven #12560 22.
- Easy Tunic Top - IJ 1154E - made with Nuno #48042 12
- Katelyn Top (or Dress or Tunic) - IJ 1168 - made with Boro Woven #12560 16.
Even though we knew that Amy is an "outside the box" kind of thinker, we were blown away by this amazing dress. Printed on Mochi Linen as a Sashiko Sampler and stitchery, this very traditional-looking stitchery print makes a graphic, modern print! And who wouldn't love wearing this simple Shift Dress? The pattern is IJ 972 and the fabric is Nuno 48040 11.
Wait... there's more!
Clockwise from upper-left:
- Gathered Back Top - front and back - IJ 1110 - made with Nuno #48042 14.
- Artisan Pants - IJ 1161E - made with Boro Woven 12560 19.
- Shift Dress - IJ 1151E - made with Boro Woven #12560 16.
So if you're in Nashville, Tennessee, be sure to stop by the Music City Center for QuiltCon. We're in Booth 524 with Debbie Maddy and Lisa Bongean. The show is open from Thursday through Sunday.
