BH5 - A Few Finishing Options!

Finished your Blockheads blocks, but haven’t decided exactly what to do with them yet? No worries – our designers have come up with some fantastic setting options for you! In case you missed them, we’ve got a quick round-up here.

Sherri McConnell of A Quilting Life

Sherri’s king-size setting features a mix of 12” blocks, 6” blocks, and 6” filler blocks fussy cut from her Raspberry Lemonade cheater print.  We love the extra touch of those fussy cut Dresden blocks – so clever! Sherri achieved a truly scrappy look for her quilt by mixing prints from Raspberry Summer, Strawberry Lemonade, and Laguna Sunrise. Click HERE to visit Sherri’s blog and download her setting instructions.

Corey Yoder of Coriander Quilts

Corey’s beautiful blocks combine her Peachy Keen collection with Anne Sutton’s Blueberry Delight collection. For her setting, she created a sawtooth star center medallion, first framed by 6” Blockheads blocks and then framed by 12” Blockheads blocks. We love how the star center anchors the theme of this stunning finish! Click HERE to visit Corey’s blog and download her setting instructions.

Joanna Figueroa of Fig Tree & Co.

Joanna went for a classic Christmas combination of Fig Tree red, green, and low-volume prints to make a gorgeous quilt that comes together for cohesive look but still has a lot of visual interest with its wide scrappy sashings. Joanna also incorporated a few 9” blocks along with the 12” and 6” Blockheads blocks. She’s having her finished flimsy quilted in a traditional Baptist fan design, and we can’t wait to see it! Heather Briggs of My Sew Quilty Life

You’re sure to find a setting you like from one of Heather’s THREE setting options! Two of her setting designs use a mix of  6” and 12” blocks, while the third option is for 6” blocks only. We can’t wait to see which setting Heather chose for her blocks! Click HERE to visit Heather’s blog and download her setting instructions.

The Official Moda Blockheads Facebook Group

Our Facebook group is teeming with inspiration! Many of you have been quilting along with us and have shared your creative layouts in the Facebook group. If you're not already a member, it's never too late to join in the fun and get inspired! From setting blocks on point to using classic sashed blocks to creating stunning medallion layouts, your fellow Blockheads are a great resource for ideas on how to use your blocks. Here's just a sampling of some of the different layouts we've seen posted in the group:

Amy Monaghan used one of Heather Briggs' layouts for her finish.

We love how Debbie Anderson used her 6" blocks in the setting triangles for her on-point layout!

Jan Winkel's layout features her 6" blocks as sashing posts. Her checkerboard sashings are awesome!

Melanie Spinks turned her 6" blocks into 12" blocks using wide borders, giving her layout balance and white space.

Pamela Speich carried the star theme through to her beautiful border! We love the addition of the stars in her block sashings, too.

Shelley Cline stitched up a stunning medallion, flanked with Blockheads blocks in both sizes, in her striking quilt.

Thanks to our designers -- and YOU -- for sharing your quilt layouts with us! Stay tuned for a video wrap-up with the Moda team, as we share our Blockheads finishes, coming in just a couple of weeks.
